NAH-CONNECTION SHOP OPENING TOUR . DAY 1

I am sure you already know Annika and her great blog Nah-Connection but did you know she has a pattern shop and she will start selling the English version of some really nice German this week?
I could not be more excited to be a Nah-Connection Ambassador and, hopefully, help my good friend with her new project. So, for the next couple of days my –almost dead – blog will be alive and kicking with some cool clothes for my kids and me…
Here is the first one!
PATTERN: Girls . Undies by Die Erbsenprinzessin for Nah-Connection. If you would ask me a couple of years ago if I would sew undies for my girls I would have replayed “Are you kidding me? No way!” but I am so glad I gave it a try now... It was such a fun project! Not that I plan to sew every single pair of undies Teresa and Ines wear but it was such a fun project
So, about the pattern… This pattern is so complete! It actually composed by three patterns: undies, cami bra and tank top. For all of them are given several ways of hemming: fold over hem with invisible elastic, fold over hem visible (picot) elastic, fold-over elastic, visible elastic, knit ribbing and knit binding. Plus, the instructions are full of helpful tips to help sewing the perfect pair of undies.
I knew my kids would be over the moon if I would sew them a cami bra so I started with an undies/cami bra ensemble and hemmed it knit ribbing. So simple, so cute! We all love it! I am sorry for no modeled photos (I hope you understand it!) but trust me, the fit is spot on. The knit ribbing is super comfortable (compared to elastic/store bought underwear) so they have been wearing it as sleep wear. Plus, Teresa has already ordered me a bikini made with the exact same pattern…
For the blog - because it would not be fun if there were no modeled photos on this blogpost, right? - I made an undies/tank top ensemble. Once again, as you can see, the fit is spot on and the tank top can actually be worn by itself.
FABRIC: Laguna Stretch Jersey Knit Flower Stripe Vintage Autumn by Robert Kaufman bought at Fabric.com (it was bought long time ago and, I'm sory, it looks like it is out of stock now) and solid red cotton jersey kint from my local store (Park dos Tecidos) for the undies/cami bra. Solid blue and flower printed cotton jersey kint from my local store (Park dos Tecidos). All of these fabrics were left-overs from bigger projects I made before. This is the perfect project to use littles pieces of fabric I had left on my stash. And how cool is it to have undies that match my kid’s dresses and shirts, right? I am already looking on my local stores for some nice picot elastic as I really feel like trying this new (to me) technic...

So I hope I have inspired you to sew underwear for your kids (by the way, there is a boys pattern on the shop too) and don’t forget to come back on Wednesday for more Nah-Connection sewing.
